About our concrete water tanks

The largest of our heavy duty industrial concrete water tanks with a silo roof will weigh approximately 44 tonne when empty. The roof is a proper heavy duty galvanised, pitched steel roof, not a flat roof.  This roof weighs around half a tonne and a man can walk on top.  This roof is rust proof. You can partly bury this tank in the ground.

Underground Concrete Water Tanks

The largest of our heavy duty industrial concrete underground tanks will weigh approximately 64 tonne when empty and you will be able to drive a truck over the top.  You can use the tanks for effluent storage, hot water storage and normal water storage.

We build these tanks with either six or eight support legs.  With these support poles the roof of this tank will take up to 20 tonne in load bearing weight and/or can take up to .5 metre of dirt/fill.  This is a very strong tank.  You can use the area as a patio, bbq area, bury the tank completely or park your car on top!  We use F92/F102 mesh in the roof of this tank, and Y12 starter bars in the base of the tank, which is why they are so strong.

General Concrete Tank Information

All concrete is vibrated and mixed to over 40 mpa and poured at 80 slump, we also use plasticiser to keep up the strength in the tanks, instead of water, and after 28 days of curing the strength of the concrete will be between 48 and 52 mpa.

The base of the tank needs to be flat, preferably laser leveled, with 150 mil of compacted road base, no fill.  Remember these tanks are very heavy.  With the largest tank 27 cubic metres of concrete is poured.  The site for this tank needs to be at least 11 metres in diameter as this tank is 8.6 metres wide. There needs to be room for the scaffolding to be built up and the formwork to be laid out.

With my tanks all brass fittings are supplied and as many as required to fit your personal requirements.   You cannot see pour marks in the neither walls nor air bubbles. By using 40 mpa (not 25 or 30) the tanks when dried are white, not dull grey, and this is a sign of the strength in the tanks.

When pouring the inner walls and base we do not use concrete blocks to support the inner wall.  This ensures a single continuous pour all the way around.

We comply with the Building Code of Australia, B1 Structural Provisions and the Australian Standards Code AS 3600 for Concrete Structures and AS3575 for retaining liquids.

Concrete water tanks keep your water cool under all conditions, are algae free and last for many, many years.  They will not rust, or burn or melt nor blow away, the water will not taint nor are there any inside liners to be replaced. And remember a decent concrete water tank adds value to your property!

The floors of the tanks are sloped into a 75 mm (3") drain plug/sump, which enables the tank to be cleaned out thoroughly and all required brass fittings are provided in the above prices.

Being an owner builder I can ensure that all works are carried out carefully and professionally, with the minimum delay, and all works carry a minimum 30-year written guarantee.

We have completed numerous projects for Government Departments, i.e., various Pastures Protection Boards, National Parks and Wildlife Service and the New South Wales Sport & Recreation and Inland Fisheries Departments, and National Mutual use our company whenever they want tanks built.  We have also completed numerous industrial projects for abattoirs, wineries etc.
